Hindbrain

The hindbrain, located at the rear base of the skull, is involved in the most basic processes of life. The hindbrain includes the cerebullem, medulla, and pons. The cerebullem, located behind the spinal cord, helps control posture, balance, and voluntary movements. The medulla controls breathing, heart rate, and a variety of reflexes, while the pons functions as a bridge between the brain. The pons is also involved in producing chemicals the body needs for sleep.hindbrain.jpg
